This is bizarre that I kicked up your blog when looking for the the theatre summary of The Yellow Leaf for some friends. I am in Salt Lake and also a friend of Chuck. There is also a reference in one of Shakespeare's the Sonnets-

SONNET 73
That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.
In me thou seest the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death's second self, that seals up all in rest.
In me thou see'st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire
Consumed with that which it was nourish'd by.
This thou perceivest, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

I like it because of the allusions to the atmospheric activities going on at the time of the play.

I am SO EXCITED for you, and for this play, and for you in this play. It is truly the ideal role! Now if only it will do so well that you can bring it closer to the east coast....

The two pictures from Henry IV are lovely. I especially like the second; you look positively luminous. Or is that devious? I suppose it could be both.

Dear Dan:

You do realize that this is like the demi-god or Patron Saint of this blog coming down to earth to comment on my 'About Me' page. It is even more amazing, I dare say, than the kind gentleman who fixed Chris's bass making a comment on this blog.

If I had internet connection in my life right now (I do not, a fact which I continually lament), you would have made my day a long time ago. But now you have made my day today, instead.

Thank you.

To quote myself at my most eloquent, "That's amazing. AMAZING!" You were/are a ministering angel. And I hope, for the sake of the new troupe (some of whom you'll recognise) that the ASC will be back there this season. It was the highlight of the tour for many of us.

I wonder when I included alien abduction in my blog. Martian Death Flu? Sorry to lead you astray.

Thanks for leaving a note!

Thank YOU! Your comments warm my heart so not only because I love and respect you very very deeply, but because you too are an artist and a craftsman. And perhaps braver than I: that great dragontangle of LA scares the bejeezus out of me, and not in the good way that the great vertical Grendel of NY scares the bejeezus out of me.

And I wonder: do you remember when we sang 'Proud to Be an American' in Music Class? Maybe it wasn't fifth grade, but it was something like that. We linked arms all the way around Fairview school in the intention of all singing the song simultaneously, but as the school was too large, one side of the school didn't know that the other side had started singing it and so waited around and then realized they'd missed the opportunity, but sang anyway, probably after the other half had already started trooping back to their classrooms. It is one of the better metaphors for democracy that I have ever heard, now that I think about it.

You know what I miss? Pencil boxes.

Do you know what else I miss? You.

Love.
